Abstract:Zaradi trenutne energetske krize strokovnjaki priporočajo, da pričnemo še bolj varčevati z energijo in nas spodbujajo, da izrabljamo obnovljive vire energije.

Title:Development of a solar charging station for electric bicycles
Abstract:Because of the current energy crisis experts recommend that we should start to save more energy and are encouraging us to use sources of renewable energy. The development and use of a solar charging station thus represents an opportunity for an efficient use of solar energy, without the need for other resources and infrastructure. Cycling is gaining popularity in Slovenia, also thanks to electric bicycles, as they can be used to bike on a more rugged terrain and enable people who are not in a good physical shape to cycle even more challenging and longer routes. This way we reduce the use of motor vehicles. Also, the developing trend of e-mobility further increased the interest in electric bicycles. In this master’s thesis, we defined different types of electric charging stations and analysed the market. Thus, we were able to create a technical product folder for our project and determine the entire electrical system as well as develop the construction. We conducted a survey among electric bicycle users, where we found that, if more public charging stations were set up across Slovenia, people would charge their electric bicycle there. We have also added a proposal for a suitable business model, which we recommend when establishing a network of solar charging stations. This thesis can serve as a start-up study for a company that plans to develop a solar charging station or a similar product.
