Abstract:Dolžniški vrednostni papirji predstavljajo enega izmed virov dolgoročnega financiranja podjetij. Primerjalno gledano financiranje podjetij z izdajo dolžniških vrednostnih papirjev v Sloveniji zaostaja za državami z razvitim kapitalskim trgom, še posebej ZDA.

Title:BONDS AS A SOURCE OF FINANCING OF SLOVENIAN COMPANIES IN THE PERIOD SINCE THE ADOPTION OF THE EURO
Abstract:Debt securities represent one of the long-term financial resources of the companies. Comparatively observed, the share of the corporate financing through the issuance of debt securities lags behind the countries with developed capital markets, in particular the USA. The risks emanating from the financing through the banks are thus increased for the borrowing companies and furthermore for the banks themselves. Having in mind that one of the core functions performed by financial intermediaries consists of the mitigation of the currency risks, one would expect an upswing in the issuance of corporate debt securities upon the admission of the Republic of Slovenia in Euro area and consequential substantial contraction of the currency risk. Nevertheless, disregarding a miniscule increase in the share of the corporate financing through the issuance of debt securities following the admission of the Republic of Slovenia in Euro area, the lag behind the Euro area has, on the contrary, not diminished, but has even increased given the unfavourable macroeconomic trends and following the general cancellation of the bank investors’ claims.
Keywords:Bonds, transferable securities, credit rating, maturity, bank loans, credit and currency risk, central bank measures, adoption of Euro, interest rate, debt to equity ratio.
