Title:Influence of stress factors on graduate nurses and graduate occupational therapists' health at Begunje psychiatric hospital
Abstract:As people spend a third of their lives at work, it is important that they feel well there. However, anyone is prone to experience stress at workplace. Due to the nature of their work, graduate nurses and graduate occupational therapists are two occupations that are even more exposed to stress. There is also additional stress when working with psychiatric patients. The main objective of this MA thesis was to research and analyse stress factors which affect graduate nurses and graduate occupational therapists’ health at Begunje Psychiatric Hospital. The objective was to determine the extent of stress among both occupations as well as the difference in stress’ levels between the two. In addition, the objective was to define the connection between stress factors and the influence of stress on health. The empirical part contained two statistical methods for testing hypotheses and measurement reliability: Cronbach’s alpha and the Mann–Whitney U test. In addition, we used a chi-squared test with bivariate analysis. If the assumptions for performing a chi-squared test were not met, we used the Kullback–Leibler divergence instead. For the purpose of this MA thesis, a questionnaire was carried out among graduate nurses and graduate occupational therapists at Begunje Psychiatric Hospital. Firstly, the results show that graduate nurses and graduate occupational therapists at Begunje Psychiatric Hospital experience stress. Secondly, graduate occupational therapists experience higher levels of stress. Thirdly, the most common factor for developing stress is excessive workload.
