Abstract:	Uvod: Žilni pristopi so pri sodobnem zdravljenju novorojenčkov nepogrešljivi. Kljub temu predstavljajo vstopno pot za mikroorganizme. Ker novorojenčki predstavljajo ranljivo starostno skupino, so bolj dovzetni za pojav okužbe. Te lahko preprečimo ali omejimo z upoštevanjem preventivnih ukrepov. Upoštevanje teh ukrepov pozitivno vpliva na nadaljnje zdravstveno stanje novorojenčka. Metode: V diplomskem delu so bili uporabljeni sistematični pristop dela z metodo pregleda, analize in sinteze znanstvene literature, deskriptivna metoda in metoda kompilacije. Literaturo smo iskali v mednarodnih podatkovnih bazah PubMed, Cinahl in MEDLINE ter Google Scholar. Število zadetkov smo prikazali s pomočjo Boolovih operaterjev, ključnih besed, vključitvenih in izključitvenih kriterijev ter v obliki diagrama PRISMA. Analiza in sinteza identificiranih raziskav je bila prikazana v obliki tabele in opisno. Rezultati: V podatkovnih bazah smo našli skupno 136 zadetkov; od tega jih je bilo za našo raziskavo primernih 8. Rezultati pregleda literature so pokazali, da upoštevanje preventivnih ukrepov pomembno vpliva na zmanjšano število potrjenih okužb in tudi na poznejše zdravstveno stanje novorojenčka v smislu podaljšane hospitalizacije in ležalne dobe, povečane morbidnosti, povečane možnosti za poznejše zaplete in smrti. Razprava in zaključek: V naši raziskavi o preprečevanju okužb pri žilnih dostopih pri novorojenčkih smo ugotovili, da upoštevanje preventivnih ukrepov ugodno vpliva na poznejše stanje novorojenčka. Najpomembnejši ukrep je ustrezna higiena rok; ostali ukrepi vključujejo tudi pravilno rokovanje z žilnim katetrom in aseptično tehniko.

Title:	Infection control of vascular accesses in newborn babies
Abstract:	Introduction: Vascular approaches are indispensable in the modern treatment of newborns. Nevertheless, they represent an entry route for microorganisms. As newborns represent a vulnerable age group, they are more susceptible to infection. That can be prevented or limited by following preventive measures. Adherence to these measures has a positive effect on the further health condition of the newborn. Methods: The thesis used a systematic work approach with the method of review, analysis, and synthesis of scientific literature, descriptive method, and compilation method. Literature was searched in the international databases PubMed, Cinahl, and MEDLINE, as well as Google Scholar. The number of hits was displayed using Boolean operators, keywords, inclusion and exclusion criteria, and in the form of a PRISMA diagram. The analysis and synthesis of the identified research were presented in the form of a table and descriptively. Results: We found a total of 136 hits in the databases of which 8 were suitable for our research. The results of the literature review showed that the observance of preventive measures significantly affects the reduced number of confirmed infections and also the subsequent health condition of the newborn in terms of extended hospitalizations and bed rest, increased morbidity, increased chances of later complications, and death. Discussion and conclusion: In our research on the prevention of infections in vascular accesses in newborns, we ascertained that taking preventive measures has a beneficial effect on the subsequent condition of the newborn. The most important measure is proper hand hygiene while the other measures also include correct handling of the vascular catheter and aseptic technique.
