Abstract:Uvod: Estetska kirurgija je postala zelo priljubljena in dostopna, veliko pozornosti ji posvečajo prav družbeni mediji. Članke smo iskali v podatkovnih bazah CINAHL, PubMed, Medline, Web of Science in APA PsycArticles s pomočjo ključnih besed, povezanih z obravnavano tematiko.

Title:The influence of the media on women´s decision-making for cosmetic surgery
Abstract:Introduction: Cosmetic surgery has become very popular and accessible, and social networks are paying a lot of attention to it. It has a particularly strong effect on young women, especially those who do not yet have an adequate self-image. In the final part, we want to present the influence of the media on women's decision-making for cosmetic surgery. Methods: When preparing the final work, we conducted a review of the scientific literature. Articles were searched in the CINAHL, PubMed, Medline, Web of Science and APA PsycArticles databases using keywords related to the topic under discussion. When searching for suitable articles for the final thesis, we included the PRISMA-diagram and used the hierarchy of evidence, which was used to assess the strength of the evidence in the results of the articles. In the final analysis and synthesis, we included articles that are relevant in content and in English. Results: Nine articles were included in the final analysis based on suitability. The results of the analysis showed that it is easier for women to decide on cosmetic surgery due to a negative self-image, viewing material on cosmetic surgery and many hours spent on social networks. Peers, internalization of media ideals and media pressures are also important influencing factors. Discussion and conclusion: Appearance-focused trends are rapidly changing and growing. A woman's self-image and self-confidence determine whether the advertising of aesthetic surgical procedures through the media has a negative or positive influence on her and whether she will subsequently decide on it.
