Abstract:Glavni namen magistrskega dela je ugotoviti uporabniško izkušnjo slepih in slabovidnih oseb z dostopnostjo spletnih spletišč. V empiričnem delu smo z uporabo spletnega vprašalnika anketirali slepe in slabovidne osebe, katerih stike smo pridobili s pomočjo specializiranih zavodov za slepe in slabovidne osebe in preko zasebnih elektronskih poštnih naslovov slepih in slabovidnih oseb.

Title:Accessibility of websites for blind and visually impaired users in practice
Abstract:The main purpose of the thesis is to examine the experience of blind and visually impaired individuals with the website accessibility. The theoretical part defines the purpose and criteria for qualitative accessibility. Firstly, it focuses on website adaptations, that is accessibility options, and then presents accessibility in selected websites in Slovenia. Finally, it states obstacles regarding website accessibility worldwide. The empirical part contains the study of an online questionnaire filled out by blind and visually impaired individuals. The latter’s contact information was obtained from either specialized institutions for the blind or private email addresses. The research topic is the evaluation of both the accessibility of selected websites and the individual accessibility settings. We were interested in differences based on age, gender, and degree of blindness or visual impairment. According to blind and visually impaired individuals the most useful accessibility options can be found on website by Pension and Disability Insurance Institute of Slovenia. There are statistically significant differences in the ratings of selected websites among blind and visually impaired individuals. These in fact depend on the degree of visual impairment or blindness. Among the most commonly used accessibility options, blind and visually impaired individuals rated the option to adjust the text size as the most useful, while the option to customize ScreenTips, dyslexia-friendly options, line spacing, and video content with sign language were considered as being useless.
Keywords:Keywords: Keywords: accessibility options, blind and visually impaired individuals, accessibility and usability of websites.
