Abstract:Uvod: Epidemija COVID-19 je korenito spremenila naše socialno življenje, ekonomijo in celoten sistem zdravstvenega varstva. Uporabili smo Boolove operaterje, in sicer AND in OR.

Title:The need for psychiatric treatment of patient before and after the covid-19 epidemic and the need for appropriate staff
Abstract:Introduction: The COVID-19 epidemic has radically changed our social habits, economy, and healthcare system. It has had a profound impact on patients with pre-existing mental disorders. The epidemic has led to social isolation and increased mental distress (anxiety disorders, depression, self-injurious behaviour). The distress and consequences of the COVID-19 epidemic have also been experienced by staff in healthcare institutions, staff shortages, ignorance of the disease, isolation measures, and closure of psychiatric wards. Methods: We used a descriptive method based on a literature review. We examined the peer-reviewed scientific literature on patients with mental disorders and the COVID-19 epidemic. We systematically reviewed the literature less than ten years old, excluding duplicates. We used the Boolean operators AND and OR. We reviewed the Medis database on the number of patients hospitalized before and during the COVID-19 epidemic, and we used the paired t-test to test the hypothesis. Results: We found no significant increase in hospital admissions to the psychiatric ward during the COVID-19 epidemic (t(11) = 1,727, p = 0,112). Sufficient medical staff was provided during the research period. Discussion: The epidemiological situation led to the closure of specific units in the psychiatric ward and made it more difficult for patients to access psychiatric facilities, which did not significantly reflect the number of hospitalizations.
