Abstract:	V magistrski nalogi smo ob pregledu učbenikov za poučevanje angleščine kot tujega jezika v 1. razredu OŠ razvili lasten instrumentarij, ki izhaja iz priporočil različnih avtorjev, na podlagi izsledkov pa smo pripravili smernice o uporabi učbenikov pri poučevanju angleščine v 1. razredu. V teoretičnem delu smo se osredotočili na prednosti in vrzeli uporabe učbenikov pri poučevanju na splošno, na rabo učbenikov pri poučevanju angleščine kot tujega jezika v otroštvu ter predstavili evalvacijo ustreznosti izbranih učbenikov in podali nekatera merila za analizo učbenikov za poučevanje tujega jezika v 1. razredu. V empiričnem delu smo pregledali 4 učbenike za angleščino kot tuji jezik v 1. razredu OŠ, izbranih iz Kataloga predlaganih učbenikov za leto 2022/23. Zaradi zagotavljanja anonimnosti, smo le-te označili s črkami A, B, C in D. Ugotovili smo, da ima najustreznejšo naslovnico učbenik D, pri pregledu formatov pa se priporočenemu formatu A4 najbolj približa učbenik B. Pri pregledu pisave smo ugotovili, da ustrezno pisavo zajemata le učbenika B in učbenik A. Pregledani učbeniki, razen učbenika A, vsebujejo kazalo vsebine in dodatna gradiva, prav tako je ta edini, ki ne uresničuje vseh zastavljenih ciljev, ki jih predvideva učni načrt za neobvezni izbirni predmet angleščine v 1. razredu. Na podlagi naših izsledkov uporabo učbenika svetujemo le za izhodišče poučevanja angleščine kot tujega jezika, učiteljem pa svetujemo, da jih uporabljajo v kombinaciji z drugimi viri in gradivi, medtem ko samostojno uporabo učbenika v prvem razredu OŠ odsvetujemo.

Title:	Textbooks to teach English as a foreign language in the 1st grade of primary school
Abstract:	In the master's thesis, during the review of textbooks for teaching English as a foreign language in the 1st grade of primary school, we developed our own instrument based on the recommendations of various authors. Based on our findings, we prepared recommendations on the use of textbooks in teaching English in the first grade of primary school. In the theoretical part, we focused on the advantages and limitations of using textbooks for teaching in general, as well as on the use of textbooks in teaching English as a foreign language in primary school. Furthermore, we presented an evaluation of the suitability of selected textbooks, along with criteria for the analysis of textbooks for teaching English as a foreign language in the first grade. In the empirical part, we reviewed four textbooks for English as a foreign language in the first grade of primary school, selected from the Catalogue of Proposed Textbooks for the year 2022/23. To ensure confidentiality, we assigned them the labels A, B, C, and D. Our findings indicate that textbook D has the most suitable cover design, and when considering the formats, textbook B closely aligns with the recommended A4 format. Regarding the font, only textbooks B and A utilize an appropriate font style. With the exception of textbook A, all the reviewed textbooks include a table of contents and supplementary materials. However, textbook A is the only one that does not fully meet all the objectives outlined in the curriculum for the elective subject of English in the first grade. Based on our findings, we recommend using textbooks solely as a foundation for teaching English as a foreign language, and we advise teachers to complement their use with other resources and materials. We do not recommend relying solely on textbooks in the first grade of primary school.
