Abstract:
Članek prinaša recepcijski vidik stanja raziskav Volkmerjeve vloge v slovenski (zlasti vzhodnoštajerski) književnosti in predstavlja širši pogled na življenje ter slovstveno delo obravnavanega avtorja, kar mu danes daje pomembnejše mesto na zemljevidu takratne dobe, ki je bila na prehodu iz 18. v 19. stoletje izpostavljenega dela slovenskega etničnega ozemlja zaznamovana z mnogimi omejevalnimi okoliščinami.

Abstract:
The article looks from a receptive point of view at the state of research into Volkmer's role in Slovene (particularly east Styrian) literature and presents a wider perspective on the author's life and literary work. It places him far more importantly on the map of that era - the exposed part of the Slovene ethnic area, which at the turn of the 19th Century was marked by several restricting circumstances.
