Title:The impact of tutoring on students' academic performance
Abstract:Tutoring can be defined as an effective learning strategy that involves learning through interaction between tutors and students. The main focus is on a collaborative, relaxed, and friendly environment, which in turn leads to greater cohesion between students, better interpersonal relationships, and a greater sense of belonging. As a result, students are much more satisfied and motivated, which ultimately has an impact on academic performance. Tutoring thus brings many benefits, but only if the tutoring system is well accepted by students and if students do not have too high expectations of tutors. The aim of the thesis was to find out what impact tutoring has on students' academic performance. In the theoretical part, we discussed tutoring in general, and in more detail, we focused on the positive aspects of tutoring, as well as on the problems and challenges that can arise in tutoring. In the empirical part, we used a questionnaire to investigate differences in academic performance between students who use tutoring and those who do not. We also investigated the reasons for using or not using tutoring support, and students' opinions on tutoring in general. The survey concluded that there is a definite link between tutoring and students' academic performance. On average, students who benefited from tutoring received a grade one higher than students who did not benefit from tutoring. We also found that the majority of students have a positive opinion of tutoring.
