Title:Rock storage implementation at the rolled products department in Impol d. d.
Abstract:The graduation thesis focuses on simulating the transition from a floor-based storage system to a rack-based storage system planned by the Department of Rolled Products at Impol company. The simulation was carried out using the FlexSim software, known for its user-friendly interface and detailed 3D modelling capabilities. The current state was recorded as the basis for creating the model, illustrating the production process and the way products are stored in the existing warehouse. During the simulation of the current state, potential product accumulation or bottlenecks in the warehouse were detected. Based on these observations, a comparison was made between the current floor-based storage system and the rack-based storage system. Through experimentation with the model, both warehouses were compared in terms of storage capacity, occupancy rates, and product flow through the warehouse. Warehouses for products in the heavy aluminium industry are crucial for product sorting, labelling, searching, and handling, with the main function being storage. In conclusion, the work summarized the findings, evaluated the effects of improvements, and presented possibilities for further project development.
