Abstract:Predstavimo in analiziramo programski cevovod za robustno in učinkovito sledenje proženjem motoričnih enot v večkanalnih površinskih elektromiogramih.

Title:Software pipeline for computationally efficient and robust estimation of motor unit firing times from high density surface electromyograms
Abstract:We present and analyze a software pipeline for robust and efficient tracking of motor unit discharges from high density surface electromyograms. The software pipeline can be used in the fields of neurorehabilitation, ergonomics, orthopedy, prosthetics, in sport sciences, etc. We demonstrate that artefact detection and elimination substantially increases the quality of electromyogram decomposition. We analyze the influence of motor unit filter size on the quality of motor unit discharge detection. We provide an analysis of the efficiency of motor unit discharge times tracking by motor unit filter transfer from one level of voluntary contraction to other levels of contraction in different muscles. The analysis of the individual parts of the pipeline is done on a broad set of synthetic and experimental high-density surface electromyograms and in this way, we also highlight the differences that arise in electromyogram decomposition of different skeletal muscles and in motor unit filter transfer between different levels of voluntary contraction.
Keywords:high-density electromyogram, motor unit, motor unit firing pattern, artefact elimination, motor unit filter
