V raziskavi smo spremljali sistem super intenzivne vzreje rib imenovane »tank by pond«.

Title:Evaluation of the "tank by pond" system for fish farming
Abstract:Aquaculture is an important industry that raises fish for repopulation of fisheries waters and is a source of high-quality protein for human consumption. However, there are ecological limits to the development of aquaculture, which has been increasing for decades, and new technologies must be sought and introduced. In this study, a system of high-intensity fish farming called "tank by pond" was evaluated. Carp (Cyprinus carpio) from the carp family (Cyprinidae) and beluga (Hucho hucho) from the sturgeon family (Acipensaridae) were included in the study and their growth and health were monitored for four months. For this purpose, the fish were weighed monthly and organoleptically examined for changes characteristic of the diseases. In the case of carp, the results of the “tank by pond” farming system were compared with the results of carp production in traditional polyculture farming. It was found that the carp yield after four months of observation was 793,5 kg, which would mean 57,041.5 kg in four months on one hectare of the same depth, significantly more than in traditional intensive farming, where production per ha reaches between 15 and 100 tonnes throughout the breeding season. During the study, no injuries or other signs indicating diseases were found, so it was concluded that the fish were clinically healthy, which is also confirmed by the percentage of dead fish, which was 0.3% in the carp, while in the tanks with belugas not a single fish died. The results of monitoring fish growth in the "tank by pond" system are encouraging, as they show that in a controlled environment it is possible to grow large numbers of fish that provide high quality protein for human consumption, with better feed conversion, less labour, and ultimately much healthier fish.
