Abstract:Namen diplomskega dela je bil preveriti učinkovitost zeolita AAG 3-5 mm (Silkem d.o.o.). Rezultate smo analizirali z uporabo Freundlichove in Langmuirjeve linearne adsorpcijske izoterme. Izvedli smo še desorpcijo As(III) in dosegli 68 % učinkovitost desorpcije.

Title:The study of zeolites application for the removal of selected metal ions from water
Abstract:The purpose of the thesis was to check the effectiveness of zeolite AAG 3-5 mm, (Silkem d.o.o.). We decided to remove the heavy metal ions nickel and arsenic, which are commonly found in water and can be hazardous to human health and the environment in excess concentrations. The research first focused on the most efficient adsorption of Ni(II) and As(III) on zeolite. The initial concentration of Ni(II) and As(III) was 10 mg/L. The influence of the pH value, the influence of the mixing time, the influence of the mass of the adsorbent and the influence of the initial concentration on the adsorption efficiency were determined. The best adsorption efficiency for arsenic ions was 92 % on 1 g of zeolite, at a stirring time of 2 h and an initial concentration of 2 mg/L As(III) and for nickel ions 98,8 %, on 3 g of zeolite, at a stirring time of 24 h, both at neutral pH. The results were analysed using the Freundlich and Langmuir linear adsorption isotherms. Desorption of As(III) was also carried out and a desorption efficiency of 68 % was obtained. We found that zeolite is a suitable adsorbent for the removal of heavy metals such as arsenic and nickel from water and can also be reused.
