Nato smo predstavili prednosti starejših podjetnikov, vključno z razvitimi osebnimi mrežami, dobrim finančnim položajem in delovnimi izkušnjami. Opisali smo še izzive, v katere smo vključili človeški in družben kapital, omejen dostop do financ, starostno diskriminacijo in zdravstvene težave ter strah pred neuspehom.

Title:Formation of new businesses and the role of senior entrepreneurship: a comparative analysis of Slovenia, Austria and Croatia
Abstract:Due to the aging of the population worldwide, attention is focused on policies and research related to increasing the participation of older individuals in the labor market. Many older people need and want to continue working even after reaching retirement age. However, their ability to engage in traditional labor markets is often limited by age-related stereotypes, discrimination, outdated skills, and the risk of prolonged unemployment. In the theoretical part of the thesis, we described the phenomenon of population aging, its causes and consequences, as well as the current state of aging in Slovenia, Austria, Croatia, and the European Union. We also defined the concept of active aging and its significance for the economy. Continuing, we identified senior entrepreneurship, presented its importance, and the reasons motivating older individuals to engage in entrepreneurial activities. We outlined the advantages of older entrepreneurs, including well-developed personal networks, strong financial positions, and extensive work experience. We also discussed challenges, encompassing human and social capital, limited access to finances, age-related discrimination, health issues, and the fear of failure. Additionally, in the theoretical section, we defined various phases of the entrepreneurial life cycle. In the empirical part, with the help of the publication The Missing Entrepreneurs 2021 and ten indicators, we determined the levels of activity in the life cycle of entrepreneurship among the entire population and among the elderly. The results showed that, in the observed countries, the rates for most indicators are lower for the elderly than for the entire population, which means that there is still room for improvement in this are.
