Title:Interventions to reduce fatigue in oncology patients
Abstract:Introduction: Fatigue syndrome is the most common condition in cancer patients and survivors. It is defined as a subjective feeling of very severe fatigue that lasts for a long time and makes it impossible to carry out daily activities and cannot be relieved with time. The purpose of the final work is to investigate the effectiveness of the intervention to reduce the fatigue syndrome in oncology patients. Methods: We reviewed the scientific literature in the field of effective interventions for reducing fatigue syndrome in the English. We used the descriptive method of work with analysis compilation, comparison and synthesis. The scientific literature was searched in the following databases: Cinahl Ultimate, Medline and Cochrane Library. Results: We included 25 identified studies in the final analysis. Interventions for reducing fatigue syndrome can be divided into effective, moderately effective and less effective. Multimodal exercises, acupuncture, babassu oil, yoga, a plant-based diet with a high protein content, and 30 minutes of mindful breathing in the form of meditation have been shown to be effective interventions. Discussion and conclusion: Various interventions can be used to reduce fatigue in oncology patients. For the most part, research on this topic is recent, so people have only recently realized that cancer-related fatigue can be influenced and should not be considered part of the disease. In the future, it is necessary to raise awareness about cancer fatigue syndrome, which could lead to in-depth research in this area.
