Abstract:Podlubniki, kot sta osmerozobi smrekov lubadar (Ips typographus L.) in šesterozobi smrekov lubadar (Pityogenes chalcographus L.), povzročajo ekstremno gospodarsko in okoljsko škodo v gozdovih, še posebej na območjih, kjer prevladujejo sestoji navadne smreke (Picea abies L. Karst.). S pomočjo obdelave zbranih podatkov smo izdelali ortomozaik in NDVI (normaliziran vegetacijski indeks). Na podlagi analize NDVI indeksa smo določili lokacije potencialnih žarišč napadov podlubnikov. Dejansko stanje stopnje napada podlubnikov smo preverili s fizičnim obhodom območja. Rezultati poskusa so pokazali, da so bila na vseh treh območjih, kjer smo predvidevali pojav napada podlubnika, drevesa navadne smreke, ki so kazala znake napada osmerozobega smrekovega lubadarja.

Title:Detection of Bark-Beetle Infestations in Spruce Forests with a Drone and a Multispectal Camera
Abstract:Bark beetles, such as the eight-toothed spruce bark beetle (Ips typographus L.) and the six-toothed spruce bark beetle (Pityogenes chalcographus L.), cause extreme economic and environmental damage in forests, especially in areas dominated by Norway spruce (Picea abies L. Karst.). The fast detection and containment of bark beetle outbreaks are crucial in the battle against bark beetles, but unfortunately, the infestation detection system in Slovenia is somewhat outdated. As part of this diploma project, an experiment was conducted using a drone and a multispectral camera to search for bark beetle infestations. The experiment covered a forested area of 21.02 hectares, which was surveyed by the drone to capture images with the multispectral camera. By processing the collected data, an orthomosaic and NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) were created. Based on the analysis of the NDVI index, potential locations of bark beetle infestations were identified. Conditions in nature were verified via a follow up physical inspection of the area. The results revealed that, all the Norway spruce trees that were predicted to be infected, indeed showed signs of attack by the eight-toothed spruce bark beetle.
