Izbrali smo kmetije s 3-kosno, 4-kosno in pašno-kosno rabo travinja. Odvzetim talnim vzorcem smo določili vsebnost nitratne (NO3) in amonijske (NH4) oblike dušika, skupno količino mineralnega dušika (Nmin) in reakcijo oz. pH tal.

Title:Mineral Nitrogen Dynamics in Soils in Relation to Grassland Use in the Podravje and Savinja Regions
Abstract:As part of a targeted research project carried at the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences, soil samples were taken from grassland at 24 farms in the Podravje and Savinja regions in autum 2020, in order to analyse mineral nitrogen in the soil and the soils' reaction. We took samples at a depth of 0-30 cm and 30-60 cm and selected farms with different grassland use, namely, 3 cuts per year, 4 cuts per year and a combination of cutting and grazing. We analysed the nitrogen forms nitrate (NO3) and ammonim (NH4), total mineral nitrogen (Nmin) and soil pH. We found statistically significant differences between the combination of cutting and grazing and the systems with 3 cuts per year, with NO3 and Nmin levels higher in the grazing and cutting treatment. For NH4, there were no statistically significant differences according to use. However, there were statistically significant differences for all parameters in both regions depending on the depth of sampling, with lower levels in the lower soil layer (30-60 cm). Soil response varied by region of sampling, but the difference was not statistically significant. We concluded that there are differences in mineral nitrogen depending on grassland use, but that for more accurate results we would need to sample throught the year, as this would be the only way to determine the actual dynamics of mineral nitrogen in the soil.
