Title:Preserving folk heritage through dancing activites in a kindergarten
Abstract:The diploma thesis with the title: Preserving Folk Tradition Through Dancing Activities in the Kindergarten is based on a theoretical and practical part. The main goal of the thesis is to familiarize folk traditions with the help of different dancing activities. In the thesis we first studied the theoretical aspects of dancing activities, their main goals, methods and content and we introduced the folk traditions and customs in the vicinity of Ptuj. Firstly we conducted an interview with a group of kindergarten teachers to find out how they include folk traditions in their kindergartens and also how this is presented to the children and lastly which methods are used in the process. Based on the findings we planned and conducted five dancing activities with children aged from five to six in the kindergarten Cerkvenjak. The themes in the dancing activities were based on folk customs and traditions from the vicinity of Ptuj. We found out that the children are actually familiar with some customs and traditions, but they do not learn about them in the kindergarten with the help of the dancing activities. Through our activities we familiarized the children with the meaning of preserving folk tradition. The children learned different customs and traditions and their characteristics, which they individually recognized and used them in the dancing activities.
