Title:Safety protocols in traffic after the pandemic - the Western Balkans example
Abstract:The emergence of the Covid - 19 pandemic had a major negative impact on business, especially in the field of transport. Due to strict measures and restrictions, transport companies have temporarily limited or suspended their activities. The effect of the pandemic was felt in all companies, regardless of their size and operations. In the thesis, we presented safety protocols and traffic during and after the pandemic in the countries of the Western Balkans. In the theoretical part, we presented the history and types of traffic, it's characteristics, the connection between traffic and tourism, and safety protocols. Then, we presented in detail the area of the Western Balkans and the transport infrastructure of the countries to which the thesis refers. In the second part of the work, based on statistical data, we investigated the number of passengers and revenues during and after the pandemic at leading companies from all types of transport. We got the data we needed for the analysis from their annual financial reports and statistical portals. The analysed data showed that the number of passengers in road, rail, water and air transport after the pandemic is higher than in 2020, while air and railway traffic even outreached the numbers from 2019. Revenues in all the transport companies we analysed increased compared to 2020. Through a structured interview with representatives of leading companies, we got a more detailed insight into the way of doing business during and after the pandemic, the security protocols and measures they introduced. We found out what security challenges they will pay attention to in the future and what changes travellers can expect. Based on the results of the research, we have listed several suggestions that would improve safety and transport business, and thus increase the desire to travel.
