Abstract:Socialna inkluzija je ključna za pravično in enakopravno družbo. Diskriminacija in stigmatizacija bolnikov s sarkomom otežujeta njihov dostop do ustreznejše zdravstvene oskrbe, podpore in zaposlitve.

Title:The inclusion of adults with rare types of cancer (sarcoma) in society
Abstract:Social inclusion is vital to a fair and equal society. Today we face, however, challenges that hinder this inclusion. One such challenge is rare cancer called sarcoma, representing less than one per cent of all malignant tumours in adults. It is often overlooked, and patients lack awareness of the disease. Discrimination and stigmatization of sarcoma patients hinder their access to more appropriate medical care, support and employment. Raising awareness and education are crucial for reaching social inclusion so that we can encourage understanding and compassion towards patients. It is important to provide appropriate resources and services for patients to live a full and independent life. By raising awareness, we should encourage early cancer detection, facilitate access to specialized medical care, and support research and innovations in this field. Our research aims to present the subjective perception of coping of five patients with a rare (a type of sarcoma cancer) disease and their process of facing the disease, emphasizing the perception of their inclusion into society. Interviewees unanimously agreed that we should be sensitive to their needs and problems and take measures for their dignity and life-quality improvement. They also agree we should talk more about this topic, for discussion can help to improve their situation.
