Title:The relationship between sustainable development and motivation for entrepreneurship
Abstract:Every action in entrepreneurship starts with the individual's inner drives, personal values, motivations and motives which drive them to achieve their goals. The motives and incentives to enter entrepreneurship vary from one individual to another. The environment in which they live and their background also play an important role. Entrepreneurship requires different skills, knowledge, innovation and, above all, a different approach to finding solutions for themselves, the society around them and the environment in which they live. It is here that the areas we are studying in this work – entrepreneurship, motivation and sustainable development – intersect, and together we can recognise them as the solution to preserving the world we know and want to preserve. Through the master thesis, we have wanted to find out why entrepreneurs decide to move towards sustainability in business, what motivates them and what hinders them in that way. The master thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and empirical. In the theoretical part, we have focused on individual concepts and related phenomena. In the empirical part, we used the 2022 GEM database and statistical tests to determine the correlation between different entrepreneurial motives and the consideration of social and/or environmental impacts of business decisions by entrepreneurs throughout the early entrepreneurial activity (TEA). We have found out that for some motives and the consideration of social and/or environmental impacts, there is a positive correlation while for others there is not.
