Abstract:Uvod: Velika grožnja javnemu zdravju po vsem svetu so v zadnjih letih postale novo nastajajoče virusne bolezni.

Title:The imapct of covid-19 on the occurrence of pulmonary embolism in adult patients
Abstract:Introduction: Emerging viral diseases have become a major threat to public health worldwide in recent years. COVID-19 is especially prominent. Many patients have numerous complications during or after infection, including pulmonary embolism. The purpose of the final work is to investigate the impact of COVID-19 on the occurrence of pulmonary embolism in adult patients. Methods: We reviewed the scientific literature in the field of the impact of COVID-19 on the occurrence of pulmonary embolism in elderly patients. The literature search was conducted in the CINAHL, PubMed and Science Direct databases in the English language. For writing, we used the descriptive method, the analysis method, the compilation method, the comparison method and the synthesis method. Results: We included 13 studies identified in the databases in the final analysis. As an outcome, we obtained the same results in all the reviewed studies. 13 studies confirmed an increased incidence of patients with pulmonary embolism due to the impact of COVID-19. Nine studies pointed out the presence of elevated D-dimer. Discussion and conclusion: During the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of patients with thromboembolic complications, especially pulmonary embolism, increased. Pulmonary embolism was common in patients requiring hospital treatment. Given that this disease is still present and we can expect it to be in the future, it is important that appropriate research continues to be developed in this area.
