Abstract:	Tekstilna tovarna Medžimurska trikotaža Čakovec (MTČ), ki se je nahajala v samem centru mesta, od leta 2017 ne obstaja več. Njeno območje ostaja degradirano. Dogodki, ki bi se lahko odvijali v samem mestnem središču, na območju Trga Republike, glavnega mestnega trga, se zato odvijajo drugje v mestu. Tematika magistrske naloge tako izhaja iz potrebe po novem urbanem področju, celoviti ureditvi območja z začasnim mestnim parkiriščem in degradiranega območja bivše tovarne MTČ. Področje se nahaja tik ob glavnem mestnem parku, ki je ena od glavnih znamenitosti mesta. Severno mejo trga delno definirajo objekti s kulturnimi in trgovskimi programi, ki so nastali v 80. letih prejšnjega stoletja. Južna meja ostaja nedefinirana. Na podlagi izvedenih raziskav, prostorskih analiz, podatkov in teoretičnega delu naloge - v katerem so obravnavane teme trgov, načela ureditve javnih prostorov in urbanistični razvoj področja skozi zgodovino - je bila izdelana nova urbanistično-arhitekturna idejna zasnova celotnega območja. Predvidi se revitalizacija središča, širitev trga, ustvarjanje prehodnega parterja ter umeščanje javnega dopolnilnega programa z zgradbo mestne uprave, ki je za to lokacijo predvidena že večlet. Koncept ureditve cone MTČtemelji na Seisselovi študiji točkovne stanovanjske gradnje (mini stolpov), ki bi omogočala večjo pretočnost območja, ki bi se na ta način bolj kakovostno artikuliralo in povezovalo z mestnim parkom. Glavna ideja je povezava novega trga na območju začasnega parkirišča in opuščene cone bivše MTČ v celoto, zlito z zelenjem parka. Rešitev oživlja center mesta Čakovec, ki z novimi intervencijami rešuje težave v prostoru ter pri tem poudarja in ohranja njegove obstoječe lepote.

Title:	Redesign of the Republic square and the area of the former MTČ factory in Čakovec
Abstract:	The textile factory of Međimurska Trikotaža Čakovec (MTČ), which was located in the very centre of the town, has not existed since 2017. Its area remains degraded. Events which would take place in the very centre of the town, in the area of Trg Republike, the main town square, take place in other locations in the town. The topic of the master’s thesis arises from the need for a new urban area, a complete renovation of the area with a temporaray town parking lot and the degraded area of the former MTČ factory. The area is situated next to the main town park, which is one of the main sights in the town. The northern boundary of the square is partially defined by the buildings of cultural and commercial programme, created in the 1980s. The southern boundary remains undefined. Therefore, based on the conducted research, spatial analyses and data, as well as the theoretical part in which the topic of squares, the principles of public space planning and the urban development of the area throughout history are discussed - an urban- architectural conceptual solution of the entire area has been developed. The revitalization of the centre is planned, including the expansion of the square, the creation of a pedestrian zone, as well as the installation of public supplementary programs and the town administration building, which has been planned for the same location for many years. The concept of the reconstruction of the MTČ zone is based on the Seissel study of point residential construction (mini-towers), which would enable the flow of the zones and thus better articulate and connect with the town park. The main idea is to connect the new square in the area of the temporary parking lot and the devastated MTČ zone into a single unit merged with the greenery of the park. The solution revives the centre of the town of Čakovec, solves spatial problems with new interventions, and at the same time emphasizes and preserves its beauty.
