Abstract:Magistrsko delo se osredotoča na kompleksen problem modeliranja procesnih enot, zlasti reakcijske destilacije.

Title:Optimization using matlab by connecting to aspen plus simulator
Abstract:The master's thesis focuses on the complex problem of modeling process units, particularly reactive distillation. Existing models in the Aspen Plus simulator are employed, with a note on limitations in achieving optimal solutions. The thesis hypothesis suggests that by linking Aspen Plus with Matlab, improved optimization solutions can be achieved. The objective is to explore the optimization possibilities in Matlab in conjunction with Aspen Plus and assess the advantages and disadvantages of different types of optimization in Matlab. The theoretical part includes an explanation of reactive distillation, its pros and cons, and the chemical reactions in the process of reactive distillation. It also discusses the fundamentals of optimization. The experimental part involves using Matlab for optimizing the process, with a focus on the Curve Fitting Toolbox. It demonstrates the use of the Aspen Plus program for simulating the process and integrating both programs. The experimental part is conducted on a basic case and a more extensive case involving the simulation and optimization of the reactive distillation process. The basic example shows that much more heat is required for evaporation than for heating water. It also confirms the successful operation of the connection between Aspen Plus and Matlab. The reactive distillation example illustrates the successful optimization of the process for maximum profit.
