Title:Specificities and challenges in supporting social and emotional learning of students with MAS from the perspective of teachers
Abstract:In the master's thesis, we investigated what teachers who teach in a special education program perceive as special features and challenges in providing support for the social and emotional learning of students with low-functional MAS, and what, in their opinion, are special features and challenges in dealing with their own social and emotional learning. In addition to the main goal, we also wanted to answer specific goals that contributed to the main goal and were pursued in the empirical part of the assignment. In the theoretical part of the assignment, we presented autism or autism spectrum disorders (ASD), triad of deficits, associated problems, social and emotional learning (also of students with MAS) and areas thereof, emotional intelligence of teachers, relationship between teachers and students with MAS, teachers' emotions, emotional work and their basic qualities and strategies to support the social and emotional learning of students with MAS. 8 teachers of the special education program, who teach students with low-functional MAS, participated in the qualitative research. Based on the results, we obtained answers to 5 sets of research questions, namely the teacher's social and emotional learning, the teacher's support for the social and emotional learning of students with low-functional MAS, the basic qualities of teachers, the mutual relations between teachers and students and the teachers' emotions in the relationship to students with low-functional MAS.
Keywords:Social and emotional learning, students with MAS, peculiarities and challenges, support, teachers.
