Abstract:Magistrsko delo obravnava nadgradnjo omrežja MPLS s segmentnim usmerjanjem.

Title:Introducing segment routing into modern service provider data networks
Abstract:The master's thesis discusses upgrading the MPLS network with segment routing. Segment routing technology can be considered an evolution of MPLS technology, so the thesis first explores MPLS technology in detail. Because the MPLS network with segment routing offers many advantages, the master's thesis focuses on the research of this technology in detail, its advantages, and strategies for transitioning from MPLS to segment routing. It has been found that segment routing technology is reliable and efficient, so it makes sense to implement it in modern networks. With a more straightforward control and signaling plane, it reduces the complexity of the protocol stack. It also supports the concept of software-defined networking (SDN) for efficient interaction services and the network layer. In segment routing, the edge router defines the entire path of the packet, so not all routers on the path participate in establishing and managing connections, allowing for efficient traffic engineering.
