Abstract:Povzetek Uvod: V predbolnišnični nujni medicinski pomoči se nemalokrat zgodi, da je potrebno bolniku nuditi dihalno podporo zaradi resnosti njegovega zdravstvenega stanja. Metode: V magistrskem delu smo raziskali vpliv okolice na izmerjeno vrednost delnega tlaka ogljikovega dioksida v izdihanem zraku in opredelili njegovo uporabnost v predbolnišnični oskrbi bolnika. Podatke smo pridobili z metodo opazovanja.

Title:Environmental Impact on the Measured Value of Capnometry in Prehospital Settings
Abstract:Abstract Introduction: It often happens that a patient needs to be offered a breathing support in prehospital emergency medical care. The capnography is also useful in checking the suitability of a placement of a trachea tube, assessment of lung ventilation, perfusion, etc. Although we know various technologies of measuring the saturation of CO2 in exhaled air not all of them are suitable for prehospital medical care. In this master thesis the influence of the environment on the measurement of CO2 in exhaled air and the definition of its usability in prehospital patient care has been researched. Methods: By using the descriptive method, we have collected and analysed the data and searched for connections within reliability of medical technology and different life conditions by the explicative method. The research was done with a portable monitor – defibrillator which supports the technology of direct sampling of the exhaled air by CO2 sensor. We have included the information that was collected in three different areas with different temperature and humidity. We gathered the information by the observative method. Results: It has been proven, based on the research that has been executed in three different environments, that the significant changes start showing within the fifth minute of the research and they increase till the tenth minute in the high humidity and low temperature environment. Discussion and conclusion: We have proved that when and if it comes to important differences in measurement of value of capnography that the technology of indirect sampling in cold and humid environment is the most appropriate method of measuring capnography.
