Title:Entrepreneurial intensions of volunteers at sports events - The case of EYOF Maribor 2023
Abstract:The master's thesis examines the entrepreneurial intentions of volunteers at sports events, focusing on volunteers at OFEM 2023 in Maribor. The research is about on social entrepreneurship oriented towards social welfare, emphasizing the role of unpaid work in creating social value. Among 100 surveyed volunteers, mostly under 30 years old and women, 54 had no prior volunteering experience. 60% of volunteers were motivated by obtaining a certificate from the European Olympic Committee to support their future careers. The majority do not express entrepreneurial intentions, as 44 respondents are undecided about their potential entrepreneurial path, while only 36 are determined to become entrepreneurs. After analysis we came up with some additional findings that were not addressed by the hypotheses. For example, 28% of respondents already have their own entrepreneurial idea, and 24% are already involved in entrepreneurial activities. Most surveyed volunteers believe that networking is important for entrepreneurial success, as well as regularly setting their own goals and visions for the future. Throughout the research, we focused solely on Slovenian volunteers, so volunteers from other countries were not included in our study. In the future, it would be interesting to investigate whether there are any differences between Slovenian and foreign volunteers. We also observed that some areas of the connection between volunteering and entrepreneurship in the literature have not been thoroughly explored and it would be worthwhile to conduct further research to enhance existing knowledge and findings.
