Title:An analysis of a dance performance titled "Peter Pan"
Abstract:This final thesis, An Analysis of a Dance Performance Titled “Peter Pan”, consists of a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part first researches the act of dance, its history, dance expression, the importance of dance for a child, dance elements, and types of dance activities. It also broadly describes dance dramatization as a type of dance activity. Finally, it focuses on the literary work “Peter Pan”, based on which the 3rd year students of preschool education prepared a dance performance as part of an optional subject Dance Dramatization in Kindergarten. The practical part carries out an analysis of the dance performance from the viewpoints of the following: movement and content motifs, use of space, recognition of the main characters’ personality traits through the dancers’ movement, use of dynamic quality, the dancers’ coordination and connection during the dance, and the appropriate selection of stage props and music. The research sample is represented by 48 2nd year students of preschool education at the Faculty of Education, University of Maribor. The data was collected with the use of an online questionnaire with closed-ended questions (rating scale).
