Title:Analysis of Smaller Sculptural Figurative Works and Personal Sculptural Reflections
Abstract:The first small sculptural depictions of the human figure, also called figurines, were found already in prehistoric times. In different world cultures, figurines differed according to individual traditions. By using the descriptive method, the terms sculpture, small scale sculptures, figure, and figurine are defined in the assignment, while at the same time, the representation of the small sculptural figure as a motif throughout the history of fine art is researched and analysed. Based on the book "500 Figures in Clay", the characteristics of modern figurative small-scale sculptures made of clay are presented in detail. In relation to clay, sculpture techniques and methods are presented, and the advantages and disadvantages of sculpture processes found in book and online sources are also illustrated. In the last part of the thesis, the figurative works of two contemporary authors are presented in the form of short reflections. Reflections of the works are written in accordance with the researched content from the thesis, and then attention is also directed to the presentation of own clay works, which are included at the end of the thesis.
