Title:Physical conditioning of a judo practitioner for off-season and competition period
Abstract:A comprehensive approach to planning an annual training programme for judo is crucial to an athlete's success, as it urges the creation of a programme that may prepare the athlete for quality performances and top results in competition. Research into the theoretical basis of physical training for judo athletes reveals the importance of a holistic approach to training based on biomechanics, kinesiology and the principles of general and specific training. Theoretical analysis is also key to understanding the psychological aspects of physical preparation that influence the achievement of peak performance. Knowledge and understanding of the theoretical concepts enable coaches and athletes to better plan and implement training and improve the quality of competitive performances. Successful planning requires tailoring a programme to an individual, considering predispositions and, for one instance, underdeveloped abilities. Knowledge of biological and motor development is crucial for proper training planning and the prevention of injuries and other negative effects. I have focused my thesis on a model of preparation for an athlete with evenly developed characteristics; although this is rarely the case in practice, it allows for covering more ground and determining results that can be generally representative while remaining adaptable to a variety of specific circumstances.
