Abstract:

Abstract:
This article provides an overview of the position of the German language in Slovenia. Four perspectives are examined: history, education, economy and migration. These perspectives are interrelated and shape the importance of German in Slovenia. Although the German language plays an important role in the economy (including tourism, trade, service culture) and in the context of migration, the status of German in the school system is characterized by an inconsistent language policy, which does not adequately reflect the actual demand.
