Abstract:Diplomsko delo obravnava vijačni kompresor v kompresorski postaji Premogovnika Velenje d. o. o.

Title:Waste heat recovery from the compressor station for sanitary water heating
Abstract:The thesis deals with a screw compressor in the compressor station of Premogovnik Velenje d.o.o. The main purpose of the thesis is to determine if the heat energy generated by the operation of the screw compressor can be used to heat up the sanitary water to at least 65 °C. A major part of the waste heat is transferred to the refrigerant oil during the operation of the screw compressor, through which this energy can be used to heat the sanitary water in a plate heat exchanger. By performing experimental measurements on the screw compressor itself, we have gained real insight into the fact that we can also heat water above 65 °C and reach a maximum heat output of 94 kW, validating our hypotheses. We backed up experimental measurement with a theoretical engineering calculation or model of the plate heat exchanger. We found a satisfying correspondence, confirming that the theoretical calculation follows the experimental measurements and can serve as a model to predict the heat energy recovery under different operating conditions.
