Abstract:Na Krasu se sekundarna travišča, zaščitena pod okriljem omrežja Natura 2000, zaraščajo z gozdom. Do konca stoletja jim grozi skoraj popolno izginotje. Neugodna starostna sestava nosilcev kmetijskih gospodarstev, razdrobljenost kmetijskih zemljišč in opuščanje živinoreje le pospešuje krčenje vrstno bogatih in zaščitenih travišč. Predstavljen metodološki pristop omogoča monitoring in načrtovanja kmetijskih in naravovarstvenih dejavnosti na regionalni ravni in napoved razvoja sukcesije pod vplivom prihodnjih podnebnih sprememb.

Title:Interaction between natural and social accelerators of Karst secondary succession
Abstract:In the Karst area, secondary grasslands protected under the Natura 2000 network are overgrown with forest. By the end of the century, they will be threatened with almost complete retraction. The time series of Landsat multi-spectral images in combination with spatial climate data revealed the succession dynamics of open habitats. The results show that by the end of the century, more than three-quarters of the existing open habitats may disappear, owing to adverse natural and social conditions. The unfavourable age structure of farm holders, the fragmentation of agricultural land and the abandonment of livestock farming serve only to accelerate the shrinking of species-rich and protected grasslands. The methodological approach presented here enables monitoring and planning of agricultural and environmental protection activity at the regional level and includes succession process forecasting under future climate change conditions.
