Title:The effect of nail length on performance indicators during the preparation and packaging of the shipment
Abstract:The purpose of the Master’s thesis was to determine, if nail length influences the performance indicators during the preparation and packaging of shipments. Fifteen women participated in the study. The participants wore eye-tracking glasses during the activity, and we used them to record the entire course of the experiment. The videos were used to track the times of the various activities. The participants were divided into two groups: group 1 - participants with short nails (0 mm to 3 mm, measured from the finger pad) and group 2 - participants with long nails (4 mm or more). After the experiment, each participant completed two questionnaires. The purpose of the first was to collect their demographic data, and the purpose of the second (NASA TLX) was to determine the load index during the performance of the activity. Within the results and discussion, we compared the time taken to complete each activity and the load indices between the two groups. The correlation between the two variables showed that there is a positive (linear) relationship between the time taken to carry out the activity and the perceived load. Based on the statistical analysis of the sample, we found that, as part of the experiment, the participants with short nails spent less time performing the activity and expressed a lower level of workload than the participants with long nails. Due to the substantial limitation of the research - the small sample, the findings of the task cannot be generalized to the whole population.
