Mladostniki so izpolnjevali anketni vprašalnik, kjer smo jih spraševali o različnih načinih in značilnostih uporabe socialnih omrežij, s pomočjo katerih smo prišli so rezultatov, ki so predstavljani v magistrski nalogi.

Title:The effects of social media on the self-image of adolescents in various age groups
Abstract:A self-image is mostly formed in adolescence. Its formation is influenced by various factors, the major being adolescent’s peers and friends, who tell them how they see them. Their opinions are the basis of the formation of adolescents’ self-image. However, lately, social media, where adolescents present themselves, share their information, pictures and opinions with others, have become another major influence in the formation of their self-image. Their friends’ responses to their posts are particularly important to them. The aim of the master’s thesis has been to find out, with the help of a survey research in which a questionnaire was used, how social media affect the self-image of adolescents and if there are differences of this impact on the adolescents with regard to various education levels and age. 317 young people participated in the research, 89 of whom were pupils, 108 students and 120 students aged up to 25 years. In the questionnaire, they were asked about different ways and characteristics of their use of social media. The acquired data is presented in the thesis. The results of the research have confirmed our hypothesis about the effect of social media on adolescents’ self-image. We have found out that social media has a negative impact on adolescents’ self-image and that adolescents are not aware of that.
