Njihova naloga obsega nadzor lovišča, spremljanje stanja divjadi, poročanje o morebitnih kršitvah in sodelovanje z vodstvom lovske družine, policijo, Zavodom za gozdove in lovsko inšpekcijo. Naša raziskava osvetljuje pomembno, a pogosto omejeno vlogo lovskih čuvajev v sistemu preprečevanja nezakonitega lova in varovanju naravnega okolja.

Title:The role of the hunting guard service in preventing poaching in hunting families
Abstract:Hunting plays an important role in preserving the natural environment, especially through game management. The key actors in the control of hunting grounds and ensuring the legality of hunting are game wardens. In accordance with the legislation, the game warden has certain powers to control the hunting grounds, prevent illegal hunting and ensure compliance with hunting regulations. Their role includes monitoring the hunting grounds, monitoring the condition of game, reporting potential violations and cooperating with hunting families and law enforcement agencies. The research was conducted among Slovenian gamekeepers. The results of the survey revealed diverse aspects of gamekeepers' activities by hunting families and that gamekeepers make an average of about 11 rounds of the hunting grounds, keeping a logbook in written or electronic form. Game wardens are generally considered to be effective in preventing illegal hunting, detecting a small number of cases of illegal hunting. The most common game for illegal hunting is roe deer and red deer, and the cases most often take place at night and in autumn. Despite the small scale of illegal hunting, game wardens point to the need for greater powers, additional training and better cooperation with the police. Our research sheds light on the important but often limited role of game wardens in the system of preventing illegal hunting and protecting the natural environment. It emphasizes the need to improve their training, equipment and cooperation with law enforcement agencies for more effective performance of their duties.
