Abstract:Uvod: Spanje je pomembno za ohranjanje zdravja, dobrega počutja in otrokovih kognitivnih sposobnosti. V času hospitalizacije je moteno zaradi zunanjih in notranjih dejavnikov. Namen zaključnega dela je raziskati možne načine in intervencije za izboljšanje kakovosti spanca pri hospitaliziranih otrocih in mladostnikih. Metode: Izvedli smo pregled literature v mednarodnih podatkovnih bazah PubMed, CINAHL, Cochrane Library in ScienceDirect. Pri pregledu in izbiri raziskav smo upoštevali smernice PRISMA. Sintezo podatkov smo prikazali z vsebinsko analizo. Rezultati: Od identificiranih 377 smo v analizo vključili 8 raziskav.

Title:Improving sleep quality in hospitalised children and adolescents
Abstract:Introduction: Sleep is essential for maintaining a child's health, well-being and cognitive abilities. During hospitalization, it is disturbed by external and internal factors. The purpose of this bachelor's thesis is to investigate possible ways and interventions to improve sleep quality in hospitalized children and adolescents. Methods: This bachelor's thesis employs a literature review, utilizing databases such as PubMed, CINAHL, Cochrane Library, and ScienceDirect. PRISMA guidelines were taken into account when reviewing and selecting research. Data synthesis was shown with content analysis. Results: Of the 377 identified studies, 8 were included in the final analysis. We found that interventions, including supportive care bundle, illuminated musical mobile, lullaby, sleep intervention compared to standard care, when receiving chemotherapy, and environmental adjustments, have a positive impact on the quality of sleep in the hospital. However, for the impact of bedtime stories, relaxation techniques, play and physical activity, further research is needed. Discussion and Conclusion: Paying attention to the child's home habits and routines, and approaches to improving sleep are crucial for sleep promotion. The quality of sleep can also be improved by kangarooing and limited napping. For caffeine restriction and pharmacological approaches, more research is needed. Further research and study of this topic and interventions can help improve the quality of sleep of hospitalized children.
