Abstract:Diplomsko delo predstavlja uporabo programskega okolja IDAES za reševanje problemov v procesnem inženirstvu. S pomočjo primerov simulacije, optimizacije in dinamične optimizacije predstavljamo sintakso modela. V prvem primeru je zajeta simulacija in optimizacija proizvodnje benzena, kjer je cilj izboljšati učinkovitost celotnega procesa. Naslednji primer je proizvodnja natrijevega acetata, kjer s pomočjo programskega okolja najprej simuliramo izbrani proces in ga nato z optimizacijo in dinamično optimizacijo še nadgradimo in izboljšamo.

Title:Evaluation of the open source idaes platform for process engineering needs
Abstract:This thesis presents the use of the IDAES software environment for problem solving in process engineering. It is a software environment that allows us to synthesize, optimize, solve problems and much more. We have focused on two examples that cover simulation, optimization and dynamic optimization, which are key foundations in process design, as this software environment gives us insight into a particular process and provides us with results that can be improved by further optimization and dynamic optimization. Due to the built-in libraries, we have a wide choice when designing and solving problems. The model syntax is presented using examples of simulation, optimization and dynamic optimization. The first example covers simulation and optimization within a single example, where the goal is to make the whole process efficient and as efficient as possible. The next example is simulation, where we simulate the selected process using the programming environment and then improve the process through optimization and dynamic optimization. The results of this work indicate that the software environment is suitable for process design. The advantage lies in the large number of modeling libraries that allow problem solving, graphical representation, modelling and simulation, but there may be a problem in the actual use of the programming environment, as the programming environment requires a certain level of understanding of the syntax.
