Abstract:V magistrski nalogi smo raziskovali vpliv intervencije (naravoslovni dan za četrti razred – astronomija) na znanje slučajnostno izbranih četrtošolcev.

Title:4th grade science day - astronomy
Abstract:In the Master’s thesis, we explored the impact of intervention (science day for a fourth-grade astronomy class) on the knowledge of randomly selected fourth graders. The intervention consisted of active and collaborative learning activities at learning stations, formative monitoring and its elements, and collaboration during various didactic games. We collected relevant data through a pre- and post-test, and a survey for the teachers. We then analysed and compared the collected data. We found that the intervention was successful. The students had indeed participated actively and with enthusiasm. Most students also showed a greater level of knowledge on the subject. Students who were previously familiar with the subject performed better on the pre-test than those who were unfamiliar with the subject. This difference, however, greatly lessened on the post-test and became statistically insignificant. Through a discussion with the teachers, we revealed that they avoid the learning station method and prefer other teaching methods. This thesis confirms that active learning and being responsible for learning has a positive impact on knowledge acquisition. After this intervention, the students rated natural sciences as more interesting and useful in the future. This thesis also contributed to the collection of ideas and resources for professionals. We did not encounter significant limitations during the application of this experiment. We, however, recommend this experiment be repeated with a longer intervention on a larger sample size, which will ensure more accurate and representative data.
