Abstract:S pandemijo covid-19 so bile organizacije prisiljene v množičen in nenaden prehod na delo od doma.

Title:Employee perspectives and experiences regarding information security when working from home
Abstract:The pandemic of Covid-19 has forced organisations to rapidly transition to remote work, highlighting the crucial role of work experience and the human factor in maintaining information security. As the boundaries between personal and professional spaces blur, employees face various challenges, ranging from maintaining productivity to protecting sensitive data. Although there is an increasing amount of literature available on remote work and information security, there is a lack of research, particularly in the Slovenian environment, that examines the perceptions, experiences, and behaviors of employees. Existing research focuses mainly on the technical aspects of securing remote work environments while paying less attention to human factors. This thesis aims to fill this gap and provide insights into remote work experienced by employees. Although technological defense remains crucial, the pandemic has clearly shown that the workforce's knowledge, habits, and behaviors are equally important in protecting against threats to information security. Based on a quantitative study in the form of a survey, this thesis presents the experiences of Slovenian employees who have been working from home, relying on the theoretical foundations of protection motivation theory. The results show that employees are aware of the challenges they face when working from home and the severity of information security threats, with the highest fear attributed to unauthorized access to their user accounts. Employees report high levels of effectiveness and self-efficacy in following information security guidelines in organizations. Findings suggest that employees implement recommended security measures, with some room for improvement, mainly in password management. The findings of this thesis are useful primarily for organisations that allow their employees to work from home, as they can help in planning and implementing information security policies.
