Abstract:Zasebno varovanje v Sloveniji je regulirano s strani Zakona o zasebnem varovanju.

Title:The use of service dogs in private security in Slovenia
Abstract:Private security in Slovenia is regulated by the Private Security Act. A person wishing to provide private security services must obtain a licence and permit to do so. The main task of private security is to protect people and property from illegal acts in the protected area. Therefore, providers offer different forms of security such as physical security, technical security, event security, security and transport of valuables or cash and other similar tasks. However, in doing these tasks, the security guard often finds himself in an uneasy situation where his life may be at risk. In European countries, this problem has been solved in some cases by adding more freedom to the actions of security guards, one of which is the use of a service dog. The use of a dog in private security can make an important contribution to the effectiveness of security measures and increase the detection of potential risks or dangers. In Slovenia, however, we have a lot of hesitation about using a service dog. In Slovenia, the dog is mostly used by the army and the police, where its better sense of hearing and smell helps in the search for missing persons, finding explosives and also illegal substances. Why the dog is not used in private security is still a mystery. Research shows that the use of service dogs is not well covered by the Private Security Act. The research also shows that the problem lies in the financial area of the organisation.
