Title:Body language as an indicator of lying
Abstract:Body language is a nonverbal form of communication that most directly expresses our emotions and feelings, making it a good indicator of deceit. Both the expression of deceit signals through body language and the reading of these signals are typically happening subconsciously. Consequently, body language is much less subject to our control than verbal language. This asynchrony between verbal and body language, along with other nonverbal indicators, can indicate lying. Using descriptive method, survey questionnaires, and structured in-depth interviews, we explored the extent to which people are aware of body language as an indicator of lying, the ability to read deceit signals in body language according to gender and different ages, and how body language differs between genders and between different age groups during the lying process; and also whether experience with raising children contributes to awareness of the indication of lying through body language and enhances lie detection skills. Through the research, we also stated some basic rules about reading body language and some common non-verbal indicators of lying.
