Abstract:V sodobnem digitalnem svetu, kjer tehnologija nenehno napreduje in komunikacija poteka preko različnih kanalov se soočamo z vedno večjim številom spletnih groženj in zlorab.

Title:The use of smishing in shipping services
Abstract:In today's digital world, where technology is constantly advancing and communication takes place through different channels, we face an increasing number of online threats and abuses. Among these threats, a new form of phishing called smishing is also emerging. Smishing is a phishing technique carried out by hackers via SMS messages. These messages often contain links that direct the recipient to scam websites that, at first glance, look almost identical to legitimate websites. These phishing sites ask victims for sensitive data such as passwords, credit card numbers or other personal information. The main mechanism of smishing is not technology, but lying and exploiting the trust of victims. With the increase in online shopping, there has been a rise in a new form of smishing focused on shipping services. Smishing in shipping services is one of the more common and popular forms of this scam. Hackers send messages pretending to be from delivery services or postal companies, telling the recipient that there is a problem with the supposed parcel or delivery and including a link to track the parcel or resolve the problem. In reality, this link leads to a rogue website where hackers try to obtain personal data or financial information. Online scammers target the masses and the carelessness of the victims in this type of scam. They send a large number of fake messages, counting on the fact that some victims are actually expecting a package. To prevent smishing, it is important to educate yourself about the dangers and identify suspicious messages, never click on links in SMS messages from unknown sources, and install and regularly update anti-virus software. It is also recommended to use two-factor authentication on your accounts. However, it is also essential to report all smishing attempts to the appropriate authorities, as this helps to reduce such incidents and provides a better idea of their frequency.
