S pomočjo analize glavnih dejavnikov gospodarske rasti in človeškega kapitala smo predstavili trende gibanja, s pregledom dosedanjih empiričnih raziskav pa smo spoznali različne metode raziskovanja in skupne ugotovitve.

Title:The impact of human capital on economic growth: empirical analysis of Italy, Portugal and Greece
Abstract:The main objective of this thesis is to carry out an econometric analysis on the impact of human capital on economic growth, using the case of Italy, Greece and Portugal. The thesis consists of a theoretical definition of economic growth and human capital and the link between them. Through an analysis of the main determinants of economic growth and human capital, trends are presented and a review of previous empirical research provides an insight into the different research methods and common findings. With this background, in the remainder of the paper we estimate the functions of the impact of human capital on economic growth for the three countries. We applied the ordinary least squares method and checked the appropriateness of the model specifications for the estimated functions. At the same time, we also checked the validity of the assumptions of the ordinary least squares method. We found that GDP per capita growth is statistically significant and positively affected by the expected number of years of schooling, and that after a certain point it reverses and starts to affect growth negatively. In addition, in most cases, gross capital formation, gross saving, trade and GDP per capita growth from the previous year also have a statistically singificant effect. The direction and strength of the coefficients are not uniform between the countries analysed.
