Abstract:V diplomski nalogi smo se osredotočili na analizo trajnostnega razvoja v modni industriji, s poudarkom na trajnostnih trendih, izzivih, strategijah in poslovnih modelih. Modna industrija se sooča z več pomembnimi problemi, vključno z obsežnim onesnaževanjem okolja, prekomerno porabo virov in slabimi delovnimi pogoji. Poleg tega pa hitro spreminjajoči se modni trendi spodbujajo hitro modo, kar povzroča velike količine odpadkov zaradi kratke življenjske dobe izdelkov. Kljub tem težavam vedno več podjetij v modni industriji prepoznava potrebo po trajnostnem razvoju in sprejema trajnostne prakse. Ta prehod vključuje uporabo trajnostnih, inovativnih materialov, izboljšanje delovnih pogojev ter spodbujanje krožnega gospodarstva, kar prispeva k zmanjšanju negativnih vplivov na okolje in družbo ter k bolj odgovornemu poslovanju. V študiji primera smo obravnavali dve podjetji, Patagonia in Veja, ki predstavljata vodilna primera uspešnih trajnostnih modnih podjetij.

Title:Sustainability in the fashion industry: trends, challenges, strategies and business model case studies
Abstract:In this diploma thesis, we focus on the analysis of sustainability in the fashion industry, with a focus on sustainability trends, challenges, strategies and business models. The fashion industry faces a number of significant issues including widespread environmental pollution, excessive resource consumption and poor working conditions, while rapidly changing fashion trends are driving fast fashion that generates large amounts of waste due to short product life cycles. Despite these problems, more and more companies in the fashion industry are recognising the need for sustainability and adopting sustainable practices. This transition includes the use of sustainable, innovative materials, the improvement of working conditions and the promotion of a circular economy, all of which contribute to reducing the negative impact on the environment and society and to operating more responsibly. In this case study, we looked at two companies, Patagonia and Veja, which represent leading examples of successful sustainable fashion companies. Patagonia is known for its long-standing commitment to environmental responsibility, including the use of recycled materials and support for environmental initiatives. Veja focuses on the use of organic and fair trade materials and reducing its environmental footprint through innovation in manufacturing and distribution. Both companies invest in transparency in their supply chains and promote responsible purchasing. Their success demonstrates that it is possible to combine business performance with ethical and environmental principles.
