Osebe z bipolarno afektivno motnjo so pogosto izpostavljene stigmatizaciji, kar vpliva na njihovo kakovost življenja in vsakodnevno delovanje. Pri iskanju smo uporabili tuje podatkovne baze PubMed, CINAHL Ultimate, SAGE in ScienceDirect. Potek iskanja literature je prikazan s pomočjo diagrama PRISMA. Sintezo podatkov smo naredili s pomočjo vsebinske analize.

Title:Experiencing stigmatization among people with bipolar affective disorder
Abstract:Introduction: Bipolar disorder is a mood disorder in which mania alternates with a depressive episode. People with bipolar affective disorder are heavily stigmatised, which affects their daily functioning. The thesis aims to analyse how people with bipolar affective disorder experience stigma based on a review of the scientific literature. Methods: We reviewed the English scientific literature on the subject. In the search, we used the following databases: PubMed, CINAHL Ultimate, SAGE and ScienceDirect. The literature search flow is shown with the help of the PRISMA diagram. We analysed the data using content analysis. Results: We included eight articles in the final analysis. Our literature review found that stigma has a significant impact on people with bipolar affective disorder and their daily lives. It affects them both in their private and social life. Discussion and conclusion: People with bipolar disorder experience stigma as feelings of loneliness, helplessness, shame, inequality and injustice; they also avoid stressful situations, socially isolate themselves and do not know who they can trust. They are perceived negatively by people and are seen as unpredictable and aggressive. Stigma often leads to social isolation and withdrawal, which is why people should be educated to understand people with bipolar disorder.
