Abstract:Pandemija COVID-19 je postavila malim in srednje velikim podjetjem obilo izzivov. Mala in srednje velika podjetja so bila zaradi omejitev gibanja prisiljena spremeniti svoj način poslovanja. V raziskovalni nalogi smo primerjali deleže uporabe digitalnih tehnologij v malih in srednje velikih slovenskih in podjetij v EU-27. V času pandemije so podjetja pospešeno izvajala digitalno transformacijo, kjer so uporabljala razne tehnologije, kot so internet stvari (IoT), brezžična omrežja nove generacije, računalništvo v oblaku, analitiko velepodatkov (ang. »Big Data«), umetno inteligenco (ang. »AI«), veriženje blokov (ang. »Blockchain«) in računalniško moč.

Title:The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the digitalization of business in small and medium-sized enterprises
Abstract:The COVID-19 pandemic was troublesome for small and medium sized enterprises. Due to movement restrictions, they were forced to change their way of operating. In this research, we compared shares of digital technologies usage in Slovenian and European small and medium sized enterprises. During the pandemic, the implementation of digital transformation accelerated, where various technologies were used, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), next-generation wireless networks, cloud computing, big data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, and computing power. As technology advanced, cybersecurity became more important as businesses became more dependent on digital technologies. The share of employees with internet access varied from time to time. The highest share was found in medium sized Slovenian enterprises, but the lowest share was found in medium sized EU-27 enterprises. Small Slovenian enterprises were the worst at implementing ICT technologies. Medium-sized EU-27 companies adapted better than small EU-27 companies. Slovenian enterprises were worse at adapting than EU-27 enterprises. The implementation of ICT was different between small and medium sized enterprises. During the pandemic, there was an increase in ICT incidents, the largest share was in small Slovenian enterprises, where the ICT usage was the lowest. During movement restrictions, companies quickly adopted e-commerce, which during the pandemic enabled many enterprises to survive. The largest share of e-business during the COVID-19 pandemic was held by medium-sized Slovenian companies, but after the pandemic this share began to decline. A lot of employees started working remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic as a result to movement restrictions. The remote work share decreased after the COVID-19 pandemic.
