Title:Organic polishing structure OPS
Abstract:In the world of toolmaking, discoveries or improvements to existing processes or machines occur almost daily. However, this is not the case in the field of polishing tool steels, where the processes have largely remained unchanged. Polishing paste is the primary tool for any toolmaker involved in polishing both tool steels and the tools themselves. These pastes have mostly stayed the same for many years, primarily because they contain large amounts of synthetic or natural diamonds, which provide high abrasiveness and consequently excellent results. However, such pastes are extremely expensive on the market. The high price of these pastes presents a challenge for many toolmakers, as well as companies striving to reduce production costs while maintaining a high level of product quality. This means that most toolmakers are looking for alternative abrasive materials that would be more cost-effective, environmentally friendly, and still maintain the same level of quality. In this thesis, we have chosen to present an alternative to expensive polishing pastes containing synthetic diamonds. We have innovated and tested an organic polishing paste, whose main ingredient is bovine horns, a byproduct of the meat processing industry.
